(Spiritually) Wearing The Image of Christ

I WANT TO LOOK VERY ‘POGI’ (HANDSOME) WITH MY BEST ATTIRE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

I remember one time when I was discerned to lead an event for YFC’s (Youth for Christ) of Metro Manila. This event was called Torch Party – a gathering where teenagers dress for a specific theme and party in a fun, cool, and God-centered manner. A week before the said event, I was very excited that I can’t even choose what to wear. Our dress code that time was formal, complete with coat/tux. And since I was the one leading the event and will also lead the worship before the party starts, I tried to make sure that I would look handsome in whatever I choose to wear.

Thinking back, I realized how most people tends to do efforts just to show off – not just by physical looks but also by social standards.
In wearing the best clothes
In leading certain events
Inside the classroom
In our homes
Inside the office
EVERYWHERE!

We tend to be (very) conscious of what we do, how we look, and what we say. I’m not saying its bad, as a matter of fact, its natural to be conscious since we are created as social creatures. It is by our image that people start to decide how they will think of us, our image really matters because it alone say things about us. We all know the importance of looking good that’s why we do efforts to improve our image. Sadly, because of all these we forget that we are also wearing the image of Christ. We are created in God’s own image and likeness (Genesis 1:27) but we forget to do efforts in looking good on that part.

Brothers and sisters, as God’s children and servants may we be reminded to first consider the image of Christ in us before our own. May we always portray Christ in everything. In choosing what to wear, how to speak, how to act. Let us always make showing Christ’s image to everyone our first priority. May we be a living testimony of Christ by being like Christ – loving, patient, understanding, loyal, humble, simple.

Let make everything we do not for us, but for Christ.
Not from us but from Christ.
Let us always testify Christ’s image in ourselves!

(PS: When I said wear the image of Christ, I didn’t mean to wear this shirt. LOL :P)

I pray for you all.
God bless!
