“The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose”
-Dr. Myles Munroe
I like what Dr. Munroe said. it is true that a life without purpose is a tragedy – I mean, you’re actually living for no reason. A lifeless life! Allow me to ask you something. Why are you living in this world? what is your purpose?
To study and have a bright future?
To please people?
To please yourself?
How about to please God?
Brothers and sisters, God created us to carry out His will. Sounds selfish right? But actually it’s not. Let’s first try to understand what God’s will is. A well-known priest and composer in the Philippines once said in his sermon:
“We think that God’s will is found out there, somewhere in the stars. That’s not true. God’s will is found within. Ultimately, God’s will is your deepest desire.”
– Fr. Manoling Francisco
Brothers and sisters, we are not forced by God to do His will. Actually we’ve been given this complete freedom to choose what we actually want for our purpose in life. In our life, anything good we choose is God’s PERFECT will. Can we still say He’s selfish then? I remember this idea from Bro. Bo Sanchez:
In the garden of Eden, how many fruits could Adam and Eve not eat? Answer: One.
And how many could they actually eat – and eat as much? Answer: Everything else.
This is the perfect picture in human life. All the fruits are for our picking. Only one fruit isn’t in
God’s will – and that fruit is called EVIL.
As I said, God’s will is so big and flexible that we can choose anything for our purpose. Anything but one-a purpose that would lead us to do evil. Let us discern carefully what we want for our purpose in life. I pray that we may be guided and protected against evil.
Your deepest desire is also your purpose.
Your purpose is God’s will for you!
I pray for you all.
